I purchased 2 $50 Vanilla Visa gift cards from CVS Pharmacy on May 5th, 2014. The cost including their service charge was 111.90. The CVS clerk apparently activated the card before giving it to me.

I gifted the gift card to my kids teachers the next day. After a few days they came back and returned the cards saying it didnโ€™t work at the store and that they had tried calling the help number on the card but they could resolve the problem. I was embarrassed that I had put them through this trouble.

Anyway, I took the gift cards and went to CVS Pharmacy on May 27 to return it and get credit back. The same lady at the counter that sold it to me said it canโ€™t be returned because they had activated it when they sold it and I would need to talk to Vanilla Visa by calling the number on the card.

I called Vanilla Visa and was told that CVS Pharmacy had not activated the gift card. I tried arguing that they would not handle the case and since I didnโ€™t spend the money and I couldnโ€™t use the card, they should refund me my money but they refused.

So I went back to CVS and talked to the Manager at the store and she said they would not be able to help me.

Obviously, in addition to the hassle of having to get the cards back from who I gifted to, Iโ€™ve spent more than 2 hours trying to get the money refunded to me with no resolution

Monetary Loss: $112.

Location: Los Altos, California

Purchased a card from a CVS store. Gave the representative money in the store to activate on the card.

The card did not work. I lost the card in the interim. After going through several representatives and finally speaking to a Supervisor I was informed to fax or email receipt along with a valid ID. Followed the directions of the Supervisor.

Was told the issue was being forwarded to the fraud department, it should only take 3-5 business days for resolve. Two weeks later, I'm being told I was given the wrong information and there is nothing they can do about it. Complete frustration, lost of money, time, etc. The representatives were very unprofessional and frankly did not care that I was out of my money.

Unbelievable there is no tracking process for lost of cards and no one is willing to assist, especially considering I provided proof of purchase(receipt).

There is nothing that says on a receipt or the card that when a card is lost or stolen your money is not refundable! Will not recommend this card to anyone!

This card is a JOKE!!! Just purchased and activated a Vanilla Visa from the Thurmont, Md.

Weis Friday Jan. 23, 2015 and loaded it up(or so I thought) with $500 to book a train ($149)from Union Station DC to Penn Station NYC(the card is SUPPOSED to be accepted anywhere you see the Visa logo) and was denied??? The look on the Amtrak Clerks face instantly turned gloomy when I told him I would like to pay using the card and said they have had MANY problems with the Vanilla Visa Cards being REJECTED so they don't accept them??? I reminded him this card is SUPPOSED to be accepted ANYWHERE you see the Visa Logo and DEMANDED he try to swipe the card, which he did SEVERAL TIMES and I watched as the card was REJECTED OVER, AND OVER, AND OVER AGAIN!!!

Let me REPEAT that... Amtrak will NOT accept the Vanilla Visas even though Amtrak CLEARLY advertises they accept Visa. Luckily I had enough cash to cover the cost of the train ( Amtrak NE Regional Train 174) for which I am riding as I type this but now I have a $500 JUNK VANILLA VISA CARD that evidently isn't worth the plastic it's printed on.

I WILL be contacting Visas' Cooperate Offices and ATTEMPT to get my money back and to ask them why they even put their name on it if it's NOT any good but after reading the horror stories of other people being SCAMMED I won't hold my breath!!! BUYER BEWARE of the Vanilla Visa!!!

You're a piece of lying ***. My husband sent in everything he was asked and the freaking receipt, and your people won't do squat.

Maybe it's time to contact the FDIC. I'm sure your organization answers to someone.
